EDIT: The Poll has ended. The KOA has chosen Dublin to host the 2015 KO2WC, and our hosts will be Danny and Pedro. Let the games begin!!!

Hi guys.

So far, we've got 2 places interested in hosting the next world cup.

1 - Landskrona, Sweden.
Located just a bit north of Malmö (again, close to Copenhagen), offering what seems to be quality game-room and Real Football (tm) guaranteed.
50 minutes by train från Cph airport. Torgny's involved in the local club there (doing their podcast etc). Perfect gameroom with view over Landskrona IP (the arena - google it! - A football-field. Perfect!!!). We can lend it for free. There are also good plastic grass-fields if we want to play for real.
Small town = cheaper than Copenhagen.

Organizer for option 1 is Torgny and Jacob, with assistance from John H, Chris and Jørn.

2 - Dublin, Ireland.

Dublin Ireland.
My offering is Ireland, home of Guinness and Shamrocks. Never before has a world cup been held on the emerald isle and hopefully that's about to change.

Dublin airport has direct flights and this means ONE direct flight to the World Cup for all international guests.

Bring your partners, they can riverDance the nights away!

Should this bid be accepted I have an intensive marketing campaign planned which will start straight away. This plan involves getting sponsorship so that all expenses are covered. The second part of the plan is to activate dormant Irish kickoff 2 players and also attract new entrants from the likes of Google, FaceBook, Ebay etc.. all of whom have thousands of employees in Dublin.

I can promise Guinness, shamrocks, old school kickoff and Leprechauns but not the crock of gold.

Organizer for option 2 is Danny and Pedro.

I never visited Ireland and I'd like to visit Dublin. the point is that, although the location is fascinating, the KOA hasn't a strong "inside factor" there. There is not a person (or more) who joined world cup lately, it would be like to give the responsibility to organize a KOA world cup "full blind".
England is near but English KOA community isn't so active in the last few years after that Steve E, Garry and Simon abandoned the forum and the international scene. Sad to say it, Robert too. So an hardware help from UK isn't guaranteed. It is difficult to figure out hardware support from other countries so it is very difficult to figure out a world cup in Dublin. Even if Denny would be able to buy all the hardware alone and split the cost in the world cup fee, it would be a very expensive world cup though considering that Dublin isn't cheap though.

In my opinion the Landskrona proposal is solid: if the organizers can have that nice venue for free as they said (note that the venue has the most relevant part in the world cup fee) we could have a very good price world.
The venue for free isn't the only good point in this matter: we would have two organizers inside the city, Jacob in particular is a historical member of the KOA who joined many world cup and internationals tournament, his willing was also much appreciated when involved in tournaments, like the past year.
in the neighborhood there is the last world cup organizers Jorn who has experience and hardware and of course there is John H, another KOA good fellow.
The German block joined Copenhagen by car with a load of hardware, I'm sure they would join Landskrona too.
So, in my opinion, although we have two bids, I think that if we want have a world cup this year, we should support the Sweden bid.

To put it the easy way, I would love an excuse to go to Dublin. Never been there, would really like to spend a weekend there. However, I think Giannis post is very valid.

The Dublin-proposal needs to be financially secured, and that would mean providing a good venue and needed hardware. Hardware would be the biggest issue.

The Landskrona-proposal guarantees for a, more or less, plug-and-play experience at very low cost.

Valid points raised by both Torchiador and Freshmaker.

As regards the Dublin bid, I'm working on enlisting the help of a couple of existing KOA members. Once this crack team is in place the WC organization will proceed fluently. I don't want to make any announcement until the team is in place but rest assured that this will be the A TEAM! :)

The hardware situation WILL be solved by a car load of amigas shipped in from England. Buying amigas/monitors for the WC isn't an option. I'll drive over and back should it be necessary.

It's true that the Irish KO2 base is dead but I'm confident that due to Dublin's proximity to the "motherland" we will benefit from an influx of UK koa members! It's just a short flight and we all speak English so no excuses will be accepted. :)

I'm eager to get a location decided upon asap as I want to have the necessary time to plan everything and react to any deviations ,should Dublin be chosen of course.

I want sponsorship, I want huge publicity surrounding this and I want an influx of new KOA members as a result. This should be the aim of every world cup, to make the KOA stronger !

Whichever location wins, I'll be at the WC !

My only disappointment so far, is that we've got no more than 10 votes.

Having said that, I'd say that The Dublin bid has one HUGE advantage; a host acutally showing interest...

I don't believe Mr.Durban has done the mass email. I've pmed him but I guess he hasn't had a chance yet.

Perhaps we should move the discussions above to the original thread viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17211
and lock this so that it's just about the voting ?

well the point is that here we are writing in 3, not 300, basically it would be a lock just among us! so I don't think it is necessary or useful :)

:)

My point is that the other thread is about discussion and this thread is just for voting.

Well. This is about the vote. And a part of making the vote, is debating the bids. So as long as we keep it within reason, I see no reason to neither lock this topic nor move discussion to the other thread.
