As for Cork; I'd recommend the SKIRT (Scum of the Koa Ireland Road Trip). That's a 2,5 hour drive from Dublin. Doable.

Ireland would be great, a place I'd like to go to. Also with Danny D and
Pedro Q we have great potential organisers. We would need the support from the English KOA members as I am not sure our Irish friends have enough hardware but it seems there are quite a few ferry lines from UK to Ireland.

Ryanair the cheap Irish airline has hubs at both Dublin and Cork. However if Michael o'Leary read this thread we can look forward to extra fees such as "game peripheral fee" "retro computer insurance" and "trophy handling fee" and so on.

Jacob: Norwegian flies from Cph to Dublin for very good prices. I could bring an amiga, but the organizers would need to hold powerplug-converters.

Dublin has direct flights to over 200 cities as opposed to thirty something from Cork So Dublin is a much better destination in that regard.

What Ireland doesn't have is are indigenous active kick off players. I could potentially "activate" a couple sleepers in Cork but there are no guarantees they would make the trip to Dublin.

On the other hand Dublin has a large population and also a large tech industry. With the right "advertising" campaign I believe it's possible to "activate" 10-20 attendees.The advertising campaign would need to be targeted and start 12 months before the tournament itself. I'm talking about an intensive sustained campaign that will leave no rock unturned and bring us fresh blood ! Some ideas, Attending gaming conferences, getting on retro podcasts, being active on ALL the retro forums etc..

I also see sponsorship opportunities potentially from game development companies etc.. eg I'm sure http://www.therage.ie/ would get on board. Sponsorship = money.Money give us possibilities eg: no entry fee, free beer, dancing girls, a couple of free hotel rooms or flights to remove any barriers to entry.

Another aspect that shouldn't be overlooked is the part to be played by the current active members. Active members need to be tasked with waking their dormant neighbours. Phone the Robert Swifts of the world and get them back.Don't take no for an answer! Their love for Kick Off is eternal , it's just on hold at the moment !

Talking only for myself; I love knowing as early as possible where and when the next wc will be. Makes it easier to secure travel-plans, -time and -money.

Me and Jacob talked about Landskrona, 50 minutes by train från Cph airport. Im involved in the local club there (doing their podcast etc). They went Down to the third division this year and maby we could use their local with view over Landskrona IP (the arena - google it!). Think I could lend it (almost) for free. There are abso good plastic grass-fields if we want to play for real. Small town= cheaper than Copenhagen. Sweden = you have to really plan your alcoholic drinking (due to "Systembolaget", no alcohol in ordinary shops)
