Gianni, please remember to bring your 4-way joystick adapter so that we can finally play that 2 Vs 2 Game of Shame this year.
Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
I have one too

Why the hell do you need a four player adapter? You are the loneliest KOAer alive!

Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
I will bring it!
please gentlemen, I see that the format for day one is quite clear already, but the format of day two is still clouded.
If the format is decided, please write it (also write which games have to be played 2X like play off etc.
Thank you
Your lovely Zombie

Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
Considering that the chances of us being more than 20 players are extremely slim at the moment, this is my final format suggestion. Please voice your objections if you have any.
I say we have enough time to play 2 legs all the way, except for the Silver Cup final and the 3rd Place Final. I only wrote the knockout rounds for those who qualify, you can figure out the classification matches for 5-8, 9-12 etc. (those who lose the knockout rounds).
Round 1: All players in one group (Group A), 1 leg round.
Round 2: The players are divided into four groups, 2 legs round. I believe that the following distribution will give people the necessary incentive to finish as high as possible in the first round, without creating very uneven groups.
Group B: A1, A6, A9, A14, A17
Group C: A2, A5, A10, A13, A18
Group D: A3, A8, A11, A16, A19
Group E: A4, A7, A12, A15, A20
World Cup Quarter Finals, 2 legs round:
WQF1: B1-D2
WQF2: C1-E2
WQF3: D1-B2
WQF4: E1-C2
World Cup Semi Finals, 2 legs round:
WSF1: WQF1-WQF3
WSF2: WQF2-WQF4
World Cup Final, 2 legs round:
WF: Winner WSF1-Winner WSF2
Silver Cup Semi Finals, 2 legs round:
SSF1: B3-D3
SSF2: C3-E3
Silver Cup Final, 1 leg round:
SF: Winner SSF1-Winner SSF2
The above covers positions 1-12, with the 9th player winning the Silver Cup. For the rest of the players, I think that we need to wait until the number is finalized before we can decide how to pair them and which two (or four?) will compete in the Game of Shame. Is that possible? It might be difficult if they are an odd number.
Here's a suggestion: How about we do it the way we used to do in the old years, and have the four last players play the Game of Shame on Saturday evening?
Advantages:
-No more worrying about people who need to leave early.
-Absolutely fair, as everyone will play everyone in Round 1 so the four last players will actually be the worst performers of the lot
Disadvantages:
-We'll need to set up a big screen game one day earlier
-The classification matches of these players on Sunday will be moot

Are you drunk too mate?
Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
No objections. In fact, I love it, day one and day two.
Game of Shame can be played on saturday, as it used to be, and as Alkis pointed out, it will be completely fair. It also used to be that it was not in a big screen, but hopefully we arrange that.
Would it be completely out of line to have a trophy for day one winner, no matter what happens on sunday?

Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
Alkis no issues with the suggestion at all, thanks for coming up with a workable format.
My one suggestion is as follows -
Have a draw for day 2!
The Draw is probably my favourite part of the WC, can't see why we cant do a draw either Sat night after the matches, Sunday morning before the matches or Sat evening during the dinner?!
Would also avoid the sneaky Italians making sure they finish in the right order to avoid each other until the finals
apart from that I have no issues as all. Agree with SOS being Sat night also, although 4 players in it could be bad news for some VERY GOOD players this year!

I am open to suggestions, but how would that draw work? What are your thoughts, exactly?
Or is it a case of, I don't have any thoughts, I just want a draw so I'll let you work out the details?

Re: Kick Off 2 WC 2013: Format discussion
Alkis it would be simple I thought?
League finishes, then we know the positions of all players (pretty much like the seedings which I guess you don't need to worry about this year!)
So after the league we draw groups A,B,C,D from positions 17 - 20 first, then 13 - 16 etc etc....
Obviously if we have 18 players two leagues will have an empty last spot...
Can't see it being that difficult to sort, so in effect the Leagues for day 2 will be made up from random groups of players from Pos 1-4, 5- 8, 9-12, 13- 16, 17 - x
Just think it makes it a bit more World Cup-pish having a Draw (for the tension of who you will get) and also lets you have a go on the mic
