As always BIG thanks to the organisers, Mark and Andy but credit should also go to Evil for fixing the date problem whilst boosting playing numbers and wangling the saturday night access to the venue. And what a night that was! 8)

Special congratulations to champion Andy whose double crown (drunken master and UK master!) was richly deserved. Mark's transformation aka The New Durban is amazing. Superb achievement mate and a quite an advert for Dagh's online school of kick off. Let's all sign up now! Mark's modesty made him slightly uneasy around the praise though later he quipped there's online kick off and there's paralympic kick off! All I can say is watch out Austria! The golden goal fun cup is a simple but cracking idea that I'm sure we'll be repeating at the 8bit Lounge and KOBRA. Good to see Evil take the first such title after about 45 seconds of Kick Off! hehe :)

Great fun meeting up with the familiar faces again and great to meet debutant Ian (impressive debut too, including a victory over me, damn it!) and his mate Tim (sorry about the lob). The odd picture and more highlights coming to our blog soon...

I like the Saturday night league  8)

Big thanks to everyone really...especially the guys who traveled from far afield and for Mark & Andy on deciding it should be held in B'ham all those months ago when interest was low - despite living so far away. Definitely putting others and indeed the KOA before themselves that's for sure.
Great to meet up with Ian K and his mate too - top, top blokes.

Mark W was the revelation in this tournament...absolutely outstanding. I've played against him many times but this was extreme...I'm talking Andy and Dagh levels. His game has improved ten fold that's for sure and given his commitment over the years to the KOA it would have been nice if he had finished first.
But the winner was another first...Andy! Well played mate on that first of many 8) Glad to play loads of games against you on Saturday but now it's over, it would be great to play 'just one more' (then another, then another etc.)
How does it feel to officialy be the best player in the UK at Kick Off 2? Enjoy it :)

As for myself, I had an horrific start to this tournament and it's taught me to just play my games in order from now on. Can't have been tiredness...just a loss of form really and big lack of focus. Saying that though, I narrowly missed out on 3rd place when Steve C beat Gaz in the last game but judging the table, Steve deserved to claim that final podium spot due to his excellent form earlier in the day. Wiping the floor with me although our return leg was back to my battling best when I won with 10 men 5-4.
Disapointing I didnt make any attempt to challenge Andy or Mark in the league but I'm determined to come back stronger for next year! The KOA have had enough players who leave when their glory years are behind them  :P

Favourite game of the day was definitely against Rob...always fantastic games and my voice is very croak from all the shouting lol
Great comment from Ian K too when he remarked that when we're all in retirement homes, it's going to be fucking incredible with all the games we'll have to play to keep our minds occupied. Infact, bring on retirement! Just think of all the tournies... :gban:

lol at 'The Iron League' Steve lmao!!

Fantastic ko2 weekend. Thanks Mark for organising and thanks Steve E for setting up the room for Saturday!

Highlight for me was Saturday night; 80's tunes, alcohol and ironing grannies. It felt like some surreal kickoff dream ending with ko2 doubles games which were a great laugh, well done Sid my ko2 doubles partner!

Loved playing all those friendlies, especially with Steve E, wish we could play more mate!

I predicted a 4 or 5 horse race on the Sunday, but it looked like some people were not on top form. However, I must congratulate Mark on an incredible result, I play him all the time and he exceeded even my expectations. Well done mate! Also, well done to Steve C on third, we all know how he can beat anyone if the lobs are on fire, but I noticed some lethal box finishing in his repertoire too!

I must mention Ian K, who I think will be a contender if he continues to play with us, very skillful and clever player. Welll done mate, amazing result for your first ever tournament in what was a very tough league. I felt sorry for Tim though, who missed out on playing due to time running out on the cup tournament; which resulted in him being ko lobbed out of the sudden death cup.

Great to see you all again and I hope to see some of you in Austria!

Very glad to read your write ups! it is clear that it has been a week end pregnant of fun!
post some pictures please!
Congratulation to Andy for the great performance! no doubts he is the best English player ever. better then the best Rikki F, Jon G, and Martin J.
Congratulation to Mark as well! reading the results and the final points he was 12 points ahead the 3/4 position and and 6 points back to Andy. A very solid performance and this second place is finally a great award after the hundreds of blasts he took online from the bigs.
Also great performance for Steve C who is used to not perform very well in league format, this time bronze medal and second best attack!!!!! the lob is strong in this one! but I'm quite sure it wasn't just a lob's matter!
Steve E Robert and Garry (all former quarter finals world cup players) pay a lot the inactivity, at least their scoring average seems to say this.
Simon had 5-5-6 tournament which is not so bad after all.
Welcome back to Sid!!
Ian at least found 4 points. 66 gaols against are not bad result, considering that his opponents were very strong!

congratulations mates! Hope to see you all in Voitsberg!

Thanks G!
It was fun... I have to say though, that after not playing one solitary game of KO2, I am out of the KO condition!
My arms still hurt! Palms, wrists, top of underarms .... I have never experienced this before.
You guys just don't know how much it takes to stay in the peak condition, as you always play. It's when you stop...

I need a KO2 fitness coach if I am to attend a future tournament ... perhaps even the WC, who knows... but I do need a coach!
Just been texting Mark B, Bounty Bob this morning, and he wishes all well, and congrats to Andy!
Mark didn't even know about the tournament, but hopefully we can resurrect KORA if Waynie is up for it, and Stainy, Hadyn, or even if Andy G joins in... Simon Bu is a lil closer...
