UK Championships 2013 - League Format Vote

Postby durban » Sun Jul 28, 2013 10:42 am

Dear all,

We need to make a decision on how many games we are playing in the UKC.

We currently have 10-11 competitors, which in terms of format is the worst number simply because x10 games is not enough for a decent competition and x2 (20 games) is too much for some.

I suggest to put this to the vote for all participants.

The options are

1) Start at 11am exactly (please arrive at 10-10:30 for registration). Aim to finish around 6 - 7pm. Play A League with each player playing x2. If there is time towards the end we have a straight one leg knockout cup. We need players to try and ensure they are playing as often as possible, taking breaks only when there is not an opponent waiting for them, and no long lunches please!

2) Start around 12pm (arrive by 11 for registration). Aim to finish around 6 and play a league with each player playing x1 - There will be a cup competition (straight knockout, 1 leg until Semi Final).

There is no 3rd option.

Please all vote asap so this can be decided.

IF option 1 is selected and a player is unable to attend for 11am then their games will be suspended for 1 hour, they can then try and catch up from 12, but after this point they will begin to forefit their games in the order of play 1 game for every 15 minutes (default 0-4 scoreline to opponent).

Kind regards,

Mark

My own preference is to play each other twice. We only do this once a year so might as well make the most of it!

only 3 votes all for x2

If we have 10 players then I suggest x2 is perfect (18 games) although new players may struggle with the marathon!
