Good 'Just For Fun' League
, in which it was a close finish to win the title, on goal difference... In the last game of the season... Reminded me of Liverpool v Arsenal, 1989, with Steve E as the Reds, and Andy G challenging to take the crown.
I'll wait for the league table to go up!
I managed to score a solitary point in a 3-3 draw with Gary C, where I was leading 3-1, which included a goalie fumbled walk of shame finish, however Gaz did well to come back and tie it!
Not too bad a performance after 2 years of not playing, in the surroundings of my elite opponents. The highlight, as always, was post event, when 4 hardcore gamers stayed behind and battled it out 2v2!!
Robert S & Simon Bu
Andy G & Mandhir S
Game 1: was won 3-0 by Andy & Sid, with Sid attacking on the first half, and Andy defending ... Tactically paid off so that with Andy attacking in the latter part of the game could secure it. The game plan worked perfectly, with Andy burying 3 goals in the 2nd half. We obviously both kept a clean sheet in our halves...
Game 2: was won 3-1 by Rob & Simon. Technically they would have lost on aggregate, but we decided to play a 3rd game as a clincher. This 2nd game saw Sid defending first, however let in 2 goals, and by halftime it was too much for Andy to recover. Well played to the winning team, though to level the tie at 1-1 apiece. Sid was defending & attacking vs Simon in these two games, with Andy v Rob in the respective halves.
Game 3: was won 3-2 by Andy & Sid ... VICTORY, 2v2 Champions! The first ever ones ... Let this go down in history...
Sid defended the first half v Rob's attack, who managed a complete lockout, with Rob failing to even get one shot, not even one off target! Elite defending from Sid... however the losers were heard squabbling later in the dressing room, saying the service from the back was not up to par... Andy doing the business in the goal end, 2-0 at half time.
Awesome 2nd half where the goals flew in, and unexpectedly, Sid scored to really rock the stadium, with the shock of defeat painted on the faces of the losers, they knew there was no way back!
Sid & Andy made a great team, communication was key, with nerves of steel... the 2v2 cup champions, you may now all kneel before us. Thank you.
