Farewell to a worthy Kick Off venue

Postby alkis21 » Mon May 21, 2012 1:35 pm

On May 12th, my wife and I said goodbye to our old apartment as we moved to a better one. Lots of great memories in there. It was the place where most Athens Kick Off 2 tournament were held, the main Greek KOA venue for 7 years. The first one was held there in October 16, 2004: Spyros, Marios, Nikos and myself played. The last one was held in November 4, 2011 for the 10 years of my WC title. It's kind of poetic that it was the last tournament we had there.

Many guys played their very first KOA games in that apartment. Countless of goals, hundreds of matches, so many awesome moments. Although mere pictures cannot begin to describe them, here are some of them for you:

May my new apartment prove as worthy as the old one, and may we have twice the number of games there.
Remember, remember, the 4th and the 3rd of November

Great pictures, and countless memories, as you say. 8) The end of an era but also the beginning of a new one! :)

Not mine*. Ah, Alkis' flat was definitely a good venue to play. Close to my work too and accessible with transportation or car.

Alki, which area did you move to?

*My old old flat was Uber Alles! Small, two Amigas close to each other (although we could get a 3rd one even 4th one), so close that I had to reset my leg onto the A4000 case that was on the floor.... Just perfect. We could shout as much as we wanted (neighbors were old and almost def), we had super market near by to get Nounou milk (Greek->English translation: evaporated milk), just perfect.

Oh and just for info, in Africa a NouNou (or rather a Noo Noo but sounds the same) is a GOAT so if you asked for it there you would get goat milk ;)

Agia Paraskevi, close to Dimokritos. So I'm still fairly close to you. Naturally it also has a computer room and unlike the previous one the desks are not next to each other so it's fine for two Amigas being used simultaneously. There's also an office where we can set up a third and if needed it's big enough to set up many more in the living room and kitchen area, we could even hold a Greek champs there if noise wasn't an issue (it is).

Mark, perhaps you are thinking of my old flat which you visited in 2002? It was not a single room though, it had a bedroom too.

Hope the best for your new flat! kitchen tournaments rule!
btw, I see Spyros, he is a metamorphic guy! he doesn't have the same look twice!
More or less I'm in the same situation as I'm moving too. Many and many works these days as I'm doing all by my own. Hopefully we should move around the end of June. I'm moving from the Milan's suburbs to the down town, 500 meters away from the Kick Off House!
