Sorry Robert but this ranking system is shit. I wouldn't bother mate. Very Runty! So who thinks that the 0-0 draw with the bottom 2 was the most runty match?

Where is Alkis??? The KO2 WC is hardly 5th??? Jeez that's awesome!

Well spotted - there are reasons for this:

1) Alkis finished Dartford on 1395 points, but these have 'aged' to 1379 over 4 months of inactivity.

2) I TRIED to get the scored from the Athens Gathering from Alkis but these were not available or posted anywhere on this forum. the spreadsheet only workd on what is in there. Please see if you can find them for me.

3) Alkis's points from Dartford are based on only 15 games. Bill's points are based on a total of 39 recorded games, with 6 defeats. Therefore the spreadsheet has more than twice as much data on Bill and can therefore award him a greater deviation from the mean of 1000. Basically the spreadsheet is more confident about Bill's ranking.

4) This is all about ranking NOW. At this precise moment in time. If Alkis had turned up this weekend, after not playing in a (recorded) tournament since November, he might have been totally out of practice and Bill could have whipped his ass to kingdom come. Who knows? Anyone who saw Bill play this weekend saw something legendary. He (and Rikki) took the game arguably to a new level of perfection.

The winners should also get points according to the tourney's importance. Can't we just adopt the FIFA ranking system? I'm looking up to it right now and looks fair enough...

Lets face it though in all the 'COMPETETIVE' games played between you and Bill this weekend he did kick your arse Rikki, not a 12-1 kicking admittedly but still. I can't complain with the rankings, all seems above board to me and i've seen the swifty spreadsheet in action so i know there is a lot behind it and it seems pretty solid, god knows what he does for a living though cos he must spend about 5mins a day at it, maybe he is Kyne's KO agent

Fine, make your own! I'm not stopping you. But let me mail you my spreadsheet first. It takes almost all the features of the Fifa ranking system. Ask Filippo.

I am going to ignore that juvenile comment simply because I know exactly where you're coming from. The points you gained from winning the league are almost exactly the same as Bill's - BUT HE WON THE CUP AS WELL, so he has more points than you. You are already forgetting that you won the whole thing by a matter of two goals difference in 135.

Just because you're not top, doesn't mean it's shit. Give Bill credit where it's due. I thought you were more of a sportsman than that.

This Team A and B thing is shit, I draw with bill and I get -6 point, sort it out swifty thats crap.

Bill's ranking BEFORE the tourney was only 1032, compared to your 1017, so why should the system give you anything for drawing with him? If it gives you points, it has to take some from him - why should it?

TEAM A gets 27% more wins than TEAM B. This was the case in Dartford (70 wins for A, 55 for B) AND Gloucester (155 for A, 122 for B). A similar ratio applies to goals.

Therefore it is not 'shit'. In the ranking, you gain 27% more points for winning with B. I believe the same principle applies to away wins and draws in the FIFA ranking - maybe Vasilis can confirm this?

For your game with Bill, the spreadsheet sees that it was a close game, but he got an away draw with an equally ranked (before Gloucester) player. Therefore it gives him some points for this achievement.

looks sound enough to me swifty - obviously the greek gathering results should be added when available (Alkis's position does look a little low for the world champ)...

...and for anyone who's a little confused - FIFA rankings are affected by world cup results, but not defined by them - the winner of the world cup isn't necessarily the FIFA ranked #1 team - although more often than not they are the same - I'm assuming that this is swifty's belief too, hence the rankings.
