Difficult to plan a ko2-tournament in the UK. If having it open for abroad players you could potentially end up with too many players (closer to 30) while having it for UK players only, then too few players could potentially be the final result. Crossing my fingers for this to sort itself out in the end = +10 players confirmed.

- Btw, have James Beard retired?

Well, it looks like my business trip is being postponed, so I may be able to come. Will need to pull some strings at home and work to be sure of attending though.

Cheers for the supportive posts, John and Jacob - much appreciated. :)

Unfortunately it does seem that James is retired, although I never give up on a Beard!

Sounds promising to me, Grant. Get tugging those strings mate and see what you can do - fingers crossed!

Andy - you're a star! I'd be pleased to see your own confirmation but to bring along two friends as well is brilliant news! A warm KOA welcome to Ren and Navid! Hope you guys enjoy the event and it becomes the first of many. My first tourney, incidentally, was UKC 2006 and I haven't looked back since. 8)

Well the threshold for deciding whether to cancel or not has come and gone (it was 10th September) so a few jitters were setting in. But now we have 10 confirmed players, this UK Champs is happening whether people like it or not!

Remember guys, if anyone else even has a mild interest then it's definetly not too late in confirming. Why not do what Andy has done and invite some of your friends? They could be the next Dagh! Although it's not been mentioned, Logo's is a relative newbie to offline tournaments but with his training with Dagh, he's in with a shout of winning. A top 3 place is a certainty.

In a way, the old guard of Kick Off 2 are moving on to pastures new. They'v either fallen out of love with the game due to the forum fights - and can't be arsed with it all anymore....something that's very understandable I have to say. They simply don't have the time or money or their personal situation means they can't make them anymore so in a way, the UK is experiencing a slight shift - and it's difficult - but these newer players could represent the new great hope for UK Kick Off 2. In the same way that the relative newbies of Kobra along with the tireless assistance of Obi "Robert Swift" Wan, have kept the UK Champs a reality for the past 2 years.

In a perfect world you'd have the newbies and the old guard - which is what happened at the UK Champs 2008. There's still plenty of time to find out...

All that we know is that the UK Champs 2009 is definetly happening 8)

Kick Off 2 is just too damn fun to just stop altogether. Even if you can't attend or host tournaments, it should be an obligation to come to the UK Champs hehe :)

Cheers Steve and Gaz.

I can assure you though that Ren and Navid are not the next Dagh! haha. They love KO2, but have not played it since the 90s! However, I will be training them in the weeks we have left 'till the Championship. I just hope that it'll entice them to get back into KO2 and future KOA tournaments.

Completely agree - that would be cool. Are Ren and Navid from nearby you Andy ? I'm just wondering if you have 3/4 of a local tourney there ? I vaguely remember one of the other Andy's is in your neck of the woods too. Be good to see some new UK KO2 activity emerge in the future. :)

Welcome to Ren and Stimpy. With 10 confirmed now, I think we should still get Steve C, the two Andys, and hopefully Trader. I just wish that Jon Greenaway would post in here, and we might have some hope around a final total of 15. It's always a close run thing, but it would be nice to get locked down....
