Also! We have negotiated a preferential rate at this great location. So if you want to stay in the Hotel to get ready for an early Kick Off 2 start, a room will cost £39.95. This includes continental Breakfast + double bed and Sofa Bed. Could have three to a room and split it evenly? Either way, we have asked them to keep 5 rooms available to us in the event people want this.
If you wish to book either send us the details or ring them up on 0121 511 0000 and quote 'KICK OFF' (yes thats right! :lol )

Yesterday I joined 17 Yahoo Amiga groups...one of them being 'Midlands Amiga Group'. I'v sent them all the links and a member has suggested they all turn up for a tournament which in turn might boost their numbers as well. They have 23 members and have regular meet ups every year I believe.

Also created a group on Facebook which I will send invites out to tonight and I'v posted stuff on a load of forums (Lemon Amiga, Digital Spy etc.)

Well done on getting this moving Gaz! Seems like a reality now :)

:eeko: Thanks a million Steve. :) Your awesome efforts could well have effects well beyond the UK Champs - you might even have single-handedly revived the entire UK Scene! 8) 8) 8) 8) You've certainly given it an almighty shot in the arm, for which both myself and others I'm sure are very grateful! :)

Looking at the proposed format, somebody could beat everybody 10-0 on day 1 and then not be the UK champion because this is only qualifying them for a position to play out on day 2 and going into day 2 they will lose everything they worked so hard to achieve on day 1. It's my view that the only way to make day 2 play offs worthwhile is to seperate the day 1 games into 2 or more leagues. Then the top players in each league batle for the prize on day 2.

However, we've had votes on formats before and the majority of players seem to enjoy playing as many opponents as possible. Perhaps playing a league of everyone playing x2 would be better? You could still have someone winning all of their matches on day 1 and losing the title on day 2 but at least they don't lose any hard worked advantage earned on day 1.

What rules are being proposed regarding implementation of menu options. No unintended slides, no auto-slides, etc?

Good points, Mark, but as this is the registration thread I'd encourage this discussion in the discussion thread :)

@ Durban - thanks for stickying this thread and could this thread be renamed 'UK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 | Birmingham | Discussion' Thanks! :)

Fair enough. This was just the only thread I'd seen the format in, so seemed appropriate to mention my thoughts on it here. Especially as they raise points which may affect registrations.

Almost certainly won't be attending this year. And that has nothing to do with format, just circumstances.
