Your favourite Amiga game music?

Postby r.cross » Thu May 17, 2012 5:35 pm

I've started to work on an Amiga game music mp3 archive, mainly because sometimes I feel like listening to those tunes while driving. I think I know most of the great stuff, but surley not everything worth listening to comes to my mind. So, whats your favourite melodies?

I used to like the music on Jumping Jackson and Carl Lewis Challenge...recently rediscovered how great Test Drive II was as well.

Would have left them all out?! So, thanks!
I just rediscovered Hippel's music for Lethal Xcess and love it. There is something about his usage of the Paula, very C64 like which makes it special.

Its Lame I know, but I always liked Defender of the Crown for some reason, especially the Robin Hood bits :)

Also you have to go for Xenon 2 Megablast and Speedball (always preferred the original to Brutal Deluxe!)

And finally I can't remember the name, first game I had on an ST so presume it was the same on Amiga...Star something... I will remember and post!

There are so many of them: Agony, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, the 'game over' theme in Shadow of the Beast II, International Karate +... but for me the winner is Loom.

Where do you start? The Amiga was just as much about the music as the games themselves.

Off the top of my head (and in no particular order)

* Xenon 2: Megablast
* Formula 1 Grand Prix
* Battle Squadron
* Various from the Lotus games (1-3)
* First Samurai
* Ghouls & Ghosts
* Full Contact
* Cannon Fodder
* Shadow of the Beast

I'll have a think about some more ... but in general everything from Psygnosis & Chris Huelsbeck :)

Memoirs keep coming back, thanks.

I haven't played Speedball and Loom, though I spent ages playing Speedball 2 and every other Lucas Film adventure. Will have to check those tunes out. Knew that Ghouls n Ghosts had great music on the C64 but I didn't know the Amiga version.

Amberstar? Another excellent Hippel work.

Yeah, heard about it. I didn't really like his previous professional recordings but of course always loved his work on the Amiga. Hope he manages to capture the charm of his 90's melodies!

Battle Squadron!
And the shock of listening for the first time the title music of Shadow of the Beast is imprinted in my memory of course.
