Earthquake!

Postby Noodlebug » Wed Feb 27, 2008 1:40 am

I've just experienced my first ever earthquake. Did anyone else feel it? The epicentre was somewhere around Hull so it would have been a lot stronger in the west midlands than here.

I wasn't convinced it was an earthquake until the BBC reported it - but it would have had to be one hell of a big heavy truck passing by to cause a wobble like that!

Felt it pretty strongly here between Manchester and Liverpool. My monitor was moving back and forth a good centimetre or so.

I was half asleep in bed and heard a very strange noise, kinda like a creaking bang. Didn't experience any movement to be honest. Thought it was burglars at first, then a car drove off outside so thought it must've been the neighbours. The Mrs was asleep and she woke up and turned to me and said "what the fuck was that?"

Didn't even consider an earthquake at the time. Blimey charlie.

I slept through the quake  but was woke by Wendy turning the light on and checking that our attic bedroom wasn't falling down!! It wasn't. Turn that bloody light off!

Why the fuck would it be stronger in Dudley than MK? You sure it wasn't Rob rumbling some tanks down the Avebury Boulavard...

We didn't feel a thing in Bedford. I'm very disasspointed especially given people here at work which is 40miles south of there felt it.

I was in a massive battle in a Company Of Heroes game so it probably just added to the effects for me.. I never noticed it.

Yup I was finalising some moves on Diplomacy whilst downloading porn....

First i thought I had kicked off World War III with my moves, then I thought it was the wife coming down the stairs so turned off my pc...

then thought it was the washing machine starting up so went to check and though 'hmmmm' that was weird.

aint felt the last few in the country, in fact the last I remember I was only about 15.

Tried to wake up Mel and tell her but she just said 'oh Im sorry, are you ok?'

Yep, I was in bed but noticed it too. Quite violent. Considering I am 200 miles from the epicentre it must have been a biggy.

Why do these things always happen when I am in bed ffs.

5,3 on Richter. Nice. ^^ It must have been impressive, because last August, in Japan, a "simply" 3 on Richter was enough to wake me up. ^^

It said it happened at 1h00 GMT... but at the same time :
