Re: Player Manager Frustration!

Have you tried using an older WinUAE version? In some newer versions the 'create formatted disk' function has incompatibility problems with older games. And I assume you are using kickstart 1.3? Yes @ kickstart 1.3 as I said i have the game running, just can't get past the 'insert formatted disk' s...

Re: New PC, laptop ... Possibly an Apple Mac Pro notebook?!

Yep, right ... Actually, the internet is full of people mentioning lockups. I basically had several lockups when using fusion and Ctrl-Alt-F1 didn't do a thing. So, not FUD. Never happend to me. Anyway I went to metacity a while back. OpenGL apps don't vsync properly with Compiz Fusion. Apparently,...

Re: New PC, laptop ... Possibly an Apple Mac Pro notebook?!

One of the most common crashes in Linux is X. It's so common that it is becoming a joke to say the opposite. So what happens when X crashes. Simply, you lose whatever you are doing. Call it writing some code, call it watching a movie, call it browsing on the net, call it anything you like. Several ...

Re: Alternative OSes!

That's actually probably not that hard to do! That's what GoogleOS will be, a basic kernel and device layer, just to run one single app (in their case, a browser. In our case, KO2!) :D Camber get onto it. Has anybody tried X-Amiga ? X-Amiga provides a small, streamlined environment for Amiga emulat...

Saying that the author is clueless is not a very convincing argument. You can do better, even without sleep.

* Doesn't it work as he describes?
* Does he make false assumptions?
* If it works as described please explain why you think it's a good security model.

Running as Administrator eh? Then YOU are the security risk. Get it sorted :D Well, I suppose that a sysadmin in Linux also logs in as root when he has to perform certain tasks, right? Wrong! Can't remember the last time I logged in as root on my linux box. I sudo when needed, that is when installi...

Re: New PC, laptop ... Possibly an Apple Mac Pro notebook?!

Yesterday, Microsoft released Windows 7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtvloPFYocw Even hardcore Linux users admitted that it is one of the best OSs in the market. Most linux users would prefer OS X over any Windows version. For one thing you can just open a unix shell and fell right at home. Unde...

With regard to managing the wiki so as to prevent these bandwith problems, I wouldn't know how to help as is. I don't know if there are any other people with administrator access than Filippo (who is absent) and maybe you (if "administrator access" is how such a wiki is working in the fir...
